about
A friend asked me one day, out of the blue, if I knew what the word “supine” meant and quickly learnt that it simply means “lying on your back” (the opposite of prone). He was thinking about writing a song or a story called “Supine on the earth”. That little line bounced around in my head since then and for more than a decade I’ve been telling him that one day I’m going to write that song if he doesn’t beat me to it.
lyrics
Supine on the earth
I haven’t made a sound
Don’t know what I’m worth
Well you haven’t been around
Supine on the ground
I’ve been trying to smile
I could be unwound
I haven’t thought about it for awhile
Now it’s settled in
With nothing to show
I know what could have been
So how can I let go?
